not only good but also beautiful: Linz is a weekend. Named European Capital of Culture 2009, the city straddles the River Danube and offers many routes waterways. The Botanical Garden is home to about 10,000 different plant species and has the largest collection of cacti in Europe. For those who love museums, you'll be spoiled for choice: from the town's history, to museums original and unusual as that of the future or rail. There are, ca va sans dire, classic castles, often host to turn collections of art and archeology.
The city is very much alive from the point of view of events: from LinzFest at Pentecost, of Acrobats at the Festival with over 600 artists. In September takes place the Ars Electronica Festival, which attracts musicians from all over Europe. In winter, the locations of museums and castles are transformed in concert halls for classical music, modern and contemporary art.
